Catching air on the Ride Warpig at Mt. Bachelor, OR

Year: Ride Warpig 2020/2021

Size: 148cm

My Height & Weight: 5’7 / 130lb

Bindings: Union Trilogy

Camber: Rocker / Flat / Rocker

Shape: Directional

Flex: 6/10

Carving: Probably due to the tighter sidecut on this board, the Ride Warpig actually carved really well! I imagined it would be more of a powder-specific board, but the edges really dug in and stuck and I felt very secure carving on groomers.

Stability: Very solid. The volume-shifted design makes it wider underfoot than the average board, which creates a very stable feel. The Warpig could plow through choppy snow, heavy snow and crusty snow easier than most.

Ollies/Pop: Great pop and really fun to throw around. Bamboo runs through the core giving it an extra pop and snap, and for how stable and fat this board is, the Warpig is really playful as well!

Trees: The Ride Warpig is very responsive, so it was actually quite quick and playful to turn in trees. Riding a shorter length, in general, helps with making quick tight turns. However, because it’s fatter there are definitely other boards out there that turn even quicker.

Powder: A dream in powder! The Warpig felt loose and playful and floated effortlessly in powder due to its wide design and rocker shape. It really made me feel light on my feet! I wanted to fly through powder and hit any little kicker I could find along the way.

Butterability: The Ride Warpig is so-so for butters and jibs. It’s still a medium/stiff board, so it’s not going to butter like a soft flexing park board.

Jumps: Surprisingly fun on jumps. The wide waist width makes it easy to stomp landings, it felt stable leading up to the jumps and it had decent pop.

Where it shines: The Warpig stood out to me in powder for its effortless float. Even over crusty chunder, it plowed through anything with its wide design and was way more playful than I expected. Really fun board!

Who would love it: An intermediate to advanced rider who wants a freeride board with a freestyle flair would love this board. The Ride Warpig is a lot more playful on side hits than many freeride boards. It is great in powder and crunchy old snow alike.

Personal Thoughts: I would put this board right in the middle of the Never Summer Harpoon and the Lib Tech Orca for both carving and playfulness in the freeride category. The Harpoon is the most playful and the Orca is the best at carving. The Ride Warpig is a really fun overall board! I also love the slightly textured topsheet.
